Cuttack: The Orissa High Court has suspended the employment of more than 1,800 persons for India Reserve Battalion (IRB) constables, effectively halting the recruiting process. Allegations of preferential treatment in age eligibility led the decision to be made on Thursday according to official sources.
Previously judged “over age” candidates have gone to the court claiming unjust exclusion. The Single Bench of the High Court had earlier issued a directive guaranteeing these candidates’ opportunity to show up for tests. Although the tests were carried out according to court directives, their outcomes are yet unknown.
Originally scheduled to start on March 17, 2025, the court intervened and all activities have been stopped. The matter will be heard once more in March 20, 2025.
